‘The hunt has evolved’ is the tagline for the new Predator film, but is the story offering any more than it’s predecessors?
We have been given a short synopsis for the film along with the latest trailer. Have a read of it and see what you think;
From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
Eyes are certainly drawn towards the ‘ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher’ up against an upgraded predator. It wouldn’t be science fiction without a scientist I suppose. It also wouldn’t be a fair fight if the last hope for humankind was in their prime either.
Either way, the Predator franchise has always been about 90 minutes of solid action and the new trailer shows promise. We just wonder whether there may be too much focus on a love story than the gore and horror that should come with a universally feared predator.
