One of the most loved comedies of all time is making a comeback, but not to our TV screens or the big screen. Prepare yourselves for a musical re-working of Father Ted!
Last night Twitter reacted to the news from Graham Linehan that he and Arthur Matthews, co-writers for the original TV series, have already penned the musical adaptation of life on Craggy Island.
This is incredible news coming 20 years on from the final episode in the series, and as a fan I cannot wait to find out who will play each role on stage.
Linehan did have to qualify for some fans who thought they may be getting fooled. “This is true and not one of my stupid jokes, I promise” he continued. “Didn’t want to do something until the right idea came along. This was the right idea.”
“Arthur and I have been laughing our arses off while writing it. Just like the old days.”
With music coming from The Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon, we have all the makings of a fantastic show. Pope Ted – The Father Ted Musical? Ah go on then.
