Star Wars movies seem to be the new Minions since Disney acquired the franchise, with new movies being announced every few months, and merchandise filling the shelves of every toy shop, gadget shop and even in the kitchen section of stores worldwide. Multiple Spin-offs as well as in-cannon features that keep the original 1977 story alive. We have had new actors take the roles of classic characters in movies like Solo, as well as the original cast reprising roles such as Mark Hamill(Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford(Han Solo) and the late, great Carrie Fisher(Princess Leia).
The reprised roles, have been met with some criticism but have also helped warm our nostalgic hearts since 2015’s The Force awakens. We now know that that nostalgia will carry on with one of the franchises most beloved characters, Jar Jar Binks is making a comeback!
Come on, Disney are smarter than that! Billy Dee Williams, at the ripe old age of 81, will be reprising his role as the wonderful Lando Calrission in Star Wars: Episide IX which is currently in Pre Production and is set for release in 2019. J.J Abrams leads the project for the second time, the first being The Force Awakens which smashed multiple box office records when it hit our screens in 2015. 2017’s The Last Jedi did not see the same success, and sparked many fans to admit the franchise may be stretching to breaking point.
The Character was last played by Childish Gambino himself, Donald Glover in Solo: A Star Wars Story, the recent prequal which focusses around the character of Han Solo. This movie was also widely criticised with many asking if it was ever really needed?
